Know the destination
The core Wulingyuan scenic area and Tianmen Mountain are different destinations. Do not mix their entrances, tickets or transport.
Before visiting, confirm the exact destination, entrance and same-day operating information. This guide explains choices but does not replace live notices.

Entrances connect to different areas and transfers. Confirm the start, finish, shuttle, cableway and elevator connections when planning.
High viewpoints, valleys, caves and lakes involve different levels of effort. Never assume a route is step-free, especially with children or older travellers.
Focus on one high-level viewing area or one valley, cave or lake experience rather than trying to cover everything.
Separate peak viewing from a valley or cave-and-lake day, leaving time for transfers and weather changes.
Add geology, local culture or an evening experience while keeping room to adjust.
Wulingyuan is reached via Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport, Zhangjiajie Railway Station, Zhangjiajie West Railway Station and the expressway network. Journeys to Wulingyuan town and the different park entrances are not identical; specify your destination when booking transport.
Transport inside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park includes eco-friendly buses, Tianzi Mountain Cableway, Bailong Elevator, Ten-Mile Gallery sightseeing tram, Huangshi Village Cableway, Yangjiajie Cableway and the Sky Garden electric shuttle. Baofeng Lake has eco-friendly buses and sightseeing boats; Huanglong Cave has sightseeing boats. The three scenic areas have separate ticket arrangements, and a ticket does not automatically include every transport service. Opening hours, ticketing, facilities and routes may change; check each scenic area's official channels before travelling.
Weather and visibility cannot be guaranteed. Wear shoes with grip, prepare for rain and temperature changes, stay out of closed areas, do not feed wildlife and do not collect rocks or fossils.
